Discover Hive, our first and only campus in Finland, in the vibrant city of Helsinki.

Helsinki, the capital of Finland, is home to Hive. Our 42 campus fits into the city’s strong sense of trust, community, and belonging. Finland has been named the happiest country in the world for the 6th year in a row, thanks to its high quality of life, stable economy, and strong social welfare system. Helsinki is a very livable city, offering excellent public transport and a high standard of living in a clean and safe environment. Moreover, the city offers a perfect mix of urban and nature, surrounded by the sea and many islands and beaches, and featuring numerous parks and forests close to the city center where one can easily escape the hustle and bustle and enjoy some peace and quiet.

Helsinki offers excellent IT opportunities, with a strong focus on digitalization and emerging technologies. The city is a hub for the European games industry and has a thriving tech and startup scene. In fact, Helsinki has been ranked first in local connectedness among investors, founders, and experts, making it an ideal place for tech professionals to network and collaborate. The Finnish government is investing heavily in AI and other cutting-edge technologies, creating exciting prospects for coders to work on innovative projects. The rising demand for coding talent is evident in the success of Hive students, who have secured top-notch internship positions in companies such as Oura, Wolt, Smartly, and Slush.

“Hive is collaborating with the best: our partner network includes technology leaders, such as NOKIA, F-Secure, Wolt and Unity. Hivers are hired into all industries by organizations like GE Healthcare or the National Finnish Opera and Ballet.”
Emilia Puschmann, CEO Hive

Hive, the first school of its kind in the Nordics, opened its doors in 2019 with the purpose of tackling the coding talent shortage in Finland and expanding the concept of coding. The school aims to make education inclusive and accessible while evolving to suit the changing needs of the world. Despite facing challenges, such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the stereotypes surrounding coding, Hive remains committed to bringing humanity and diversity into the tech industry. The school’s brand is colorful, playful, open-minded, ambitious, and international, reflecting its serious business approach without taking itself too seriously. As the founding partner and sponsor, Supercell has played an instrumental role in the inception of Hive Helsinki.

“We named the school “Hive” as a reference to a place where people are occupied with a purpose. We believe that Hive is the beginning of a new kind of coding community — a movement that is bigger than the school itself. Hive is a place where people from all walks of life come together to collaborate, to create great things, and to have an impact on society.”
Emilia Puschmann, CEO Hive

Since the inception of Hive, 440 individuals have started their studies at the school. Hive hosts a minimum of 2–3 Piscines each year. However, Hive’s team is currently investigating how to increase the reach of its innovative pedagogy and scale its operations. By scaling up, Hive hopes to create an even bigger impact in the future. As Hive strives to expand its reach, it is poised to continue its mission of providing inclusive and accessible education that evolves to suit the changing needs of the world.

“Hive is the best campus thanks to our student community! They are always organizing something from Dungeon and Dragon clubs to public speaking gigs to sauna trips as well as events, hackathons, workshops, excursions with our active partner companies.”
Emilia Puschmann, CEO Hive
