Discover 42 Lisboa, in the heart of one of the oldest cities in Europe.

The largest city and capital of Portugal attracts more than 3.5 million tourists every year, seduced by its seven hills and its fantastic location. Lisbon has everything: wine, bars, disco… and since 2020, its own 42 campus.

“Lisbon has this incredible light. That’s probably the most remarkable beauty of this city, powered by it’s great location, next to the ocean and the estuary of the Tagus River.” says

Pedro Santa Clara, Director of 42 Lisboa.

42 Lisboa became a reality thanks to its founders: Ms. Ming C. Hsu, Banco Santander, Vanguard Properties and Fidelidade. The campus also counts with the generous support of bi4all, Mercedes-Benz.io, Observador, dstgroup, BA Glass, Casa Relvas, Huawei, Axians, Claude and Sofia Marion Foundation, the Alves Ribeiro Family and Rita & Filipe Botton. Fundação José Neves is the Education Partner of 42 Lisboa.

Lisboa has been recognized as a growing tech ecosystem. As it is true everywhere, there is currently a lack of digital talent available to hire, and so many opportunities to take.

“We have had two intakes at 42 Lisboa: the first in February, the other in October. Our February students are already getting job offers on LinkedIn! Our main concern is to keep them with us for as long as possible, so that they don’t take the first opportunity that comes around but instead, enjoy everything 42 has to offer first.”

Pedro Santa Clara, Director of 42 Lisboa.

The 42 Lisboa’s campus used to be an industrial building. Nowadays, it is home to more than 300 students, after an initial wave of 20.000 online applicants. The first floor is a big lounge dedicated to the students: a ping-pong table, a giant video wall, a piano… and even a fake pool, a fan favorite for an epic photoshoot!

“One fun thing that we have on campus is a “solidary library”. We have a bunch of bookshelves with secondhand books sold for less than 5€. All the proceeds go to an association to people with Down Syndrom. The whole thing works on the honor code: we have an “honesty pig”, so you pick a book, you leave your money in the piggy bank, and at the end of the month the money goes to the association.”
